Now,,however,bebetteratpreparingthelearnersforfuturelearning,,BransfordandSchwartz (1999) suggestedtheuseofwhatSchwartzandMarting (2004) called “thedoubletransfer” (SituationsA1andA2).Halfofthestudentsfrombothtreatmentsweregivenaccesstoacommonlearningresource (SituationB),suchasalectureorasampleworked-outproblem,followedbyarequesttosolveatransferproblem (SituationC).Theotherhalffrombothtreatmentswereaskedtosolvethetransferproblem (SituationC) “transferin” whattheyhadlearnedfromtheinstructionaltreatmenttolearnfromtheresource,andtheyneededto “transferout” ,theywerebetweenthetwoconditions (SituationsA1andA2) asfarastheirdirecteffectonthetransfertask (SituationC) .
