为了更好地把握近些年美国中小学教师数量的变化情况，下面我们截取美国1995年及其以后美国公立、私立中小学教师数量的数据来进行分析。

从表14-1可以看出，1995年至2001年，私立中小学校教师总数在逐年增加，由37.6万人增至44.1万人，增加了6.5万人，平均每年增加1万多人。但从2001年以后，教师总数变化就不大了，2001年至2009年，教师总数从44.1万人增至45.6万人，只增加了1.5万人，平均每年增加不到0.2万人。且从2006年至2009年，教师总数保持在45.6万人不变。
而公立中小学教师总数在1995—2009年间逐年增长，由1995年的259.8万人增长至2009年的324.9万人，增加了65.1万人，增幅25%，平均每年增加4.65万人。
