AsthemotivestoFriendshipdifferinkind, , innumberequaltotheobjectsofit, sinceinthelineofeachtheremaybe“mutualaffectionmutuallyknown.”
NowtheywhohaveFriendshipforoneanotherdesireoneanother'sgoodaccordingtothemotiveoftheirFriendship;accordinglytheywhosemotiveisutilityhavenoFriendshipforoneanotherreally, butonlyinsofarassomegoodarisestothemfromoneanother.
Andtheywhosemotiveispleasureareinlikecase:Imean, theyhaveFriendshipformenofeasypleasantry, ;theywhosemotiveispleasuredosoforwhatispleasurabletothemselves;thatistosay, :sincetheobjectisnotbelovedinthatheisthemanheisbutinthathefurnishesadvantageorpleasureasthecasemaybe.
SuchFriendshipsareofcourseveryliabletodissolutionifthepartiesdonotcontinuealike:Imean, :so, ofcourse, whenthemotivewhichmadethemfriendsisvanished, theFriendshiplikewisedissolves;sinceitexistedonlyrelativelytothosecircumstances.
